**** "Your excellent delivery helped convey the beautiful yet tragic story of Edith."

***** "Your delivery of Edith’s maiden speech was just superb. You had everyone hooked and on the edge of their seat."

Lit Live storyteller Sarah McNeill narrated the extraordinary story of Australia's first female Parliamentarian, Edith Dircksey Cowan, accompanied by the wonderful Perth Symphony Orchestra.

Part of PSO's WA Stories series held in WA Museum Bool Bardip, it was an opportunity to get to know the woman who appears on Australia's $50 note.

Edith Cowan was WA's first female Justice of the Peace; she started Australia's first women's club, Karrakatta Club; she was instrumental in opening King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women and in getting a separate children's court and female prison officers.

PSO performed the music of female composers of the day and were joined by the lovely young choristers from Churchlands SHS Matilda Choir. It was wonderful!
